Ashe Medical Associates is the original group of family physicians in Ashe County, serving our citizens for over 17 years. We provide a wide range of medical services including care of chronic medical problems, urgent care for acute illnesses and injuries, dermatologic and minor surgery, x-ray services, a full-service lab, bone density measurement, cardiac and pulmonary testing, and nerve conduction testing. We are open more hours than any other medical office in the area for your convenience, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm and Saturday from 8 am until Noon. We also have a full service skin care practice, which performs permanent laser hair removal and vein treatment, “lunch hour facelifts”, and microdermabrasion. Dr. Philip Yount joined Ashe Medical Associates in 1989. He is originally from Hickory, NC. He attended medical school at East Carolina University and did a family medicine residency for three years in Asheville. His hobbies are reading, running, and fly-fishing. He has been married to Drew for 20 years and has three children. His oldest daughter, Lindsay, is planning to attend Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory next fall to study occupational therapy. Allison is home schooled and enjoys gymnastics and digital photography. Mathew loves being read to about animals. The Younts attend Bald Mountain Baptist Church in Baldwin. |

Dr. Gregory Hershner moved to Ashe County in 1990 to join Ashe Medical Associates. He and his family reside in Warrensville. He is married to Jan Jeremiah Hershner and they have 4 children: Adam, Alex, Ali, and Eddie. He and his family are active in Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoys beekeeping, computers, fishing, and hunting. He enjoys a medical practice of adolescent, adult and senior health, focusing on acute/chronic illnesses and wellness. |

Dr. Jayne Leonard joined Ashe Medical in 1994. She attended Duke University Medical School and also did her family medicine residency in Asheville, NC. She married John in 1997. They are pet lovers, having parrots, dogs, a cat, and fish. She enjoys gardening, hunting, and singing in the Helton Community. |
